The 2016 Bill Rich Memorial Challenge

On Friday, June 17th, 73 Chapman employees headed to Rock Harbor in Orleans for our annual team-building fishing trip, the Bill Rich Memorial Challenge. A fleet of 13 boats set sail early that morning, all with high hopes of having their names engraved on the official BRMC trophy. The fantastic weather and plentiful fish made for a fun-filled Friday on the boats! Team Hindsight, consisting of Captain Ari Gerrior, Jon Prime, Eric Churchill, Kristen Carroll and Stephen Morrill, took home the overall win with five keepers totaling 160 inches! Co-op student Stephen Morrill assisted his team with the win by reeling in the largest catch, a 42″ bass!

Originally known as the Cape Cod Challenge, this 16-year Chapman tradition was renamed in 2009 to honor Bill Rich, a beloved team member who passed away that year. Each employee who participates in the event makes a donation to the Bill Rich Fund, which benefits the Department of Children and Families (DCF), an organization close to the Rich family’s hearts. With Chapman matching all donations, this year we were able to donate a total of $3,000 to the DCF. We’re grateful to all of the employees who could participate in one of Bill’s favorite events, and we look forward to next year!
