Celebrating “Best Places to Work” 2011!

We’re delighted to announce that Chapman has once again been named to the Boston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” list, coming in at #7 in the Small Company category! We are also excited to see so many of our partners named as well. Congratulations to HubSpot, LogMeIn, athenahealth, and New Balance!

We’re honored to be recognized by our employees and the BBJ, and to celebrate, we thought it might be fun to offer everyone a peek inside our company, to show you a few of the things that we think make Chapman a great workplace.
If you’ve worked with Chapman for any length of time, you’ve probably heard tales of our annual fishing trip, The Bill Rich Memorial Challenge. Every June, we close our offices for one day and convene on Cape Cod for a day of fishing, barbecuing, and volleyball.

This popular team-building event gives our sixty-person staff a chance to enjoy a day together while remembering Bill Rich, a beloved Chapman Supervisor who passed away in 2009. The annual fishing trip was one of Bill’s favorite days of the year.

This year’s Challenge included one new wrinkle: the morning after the fishing trip, ten members of the Chapman team met in Marshfield to compete in the “Ruckus Boston 2011” race, a grueling four-mile obstacle course that proved to be a real test of endurance for everyone involved. All of Chapman’s entrants completed the brutal race, with Construction Supervisor Mike Lynde turning in a stunning performance,

finishing 18th out of 3,300 participants.

Summer is always a busy time here at Chapman, but we never let it slip by without a big sendoff at our annual “Ode to Summer” cookout. One Sunday every September, Chapman’s families gather at Chapman World Headquarters for food and fun activites including a tug-o-war, a rock climbing wall, and bounce house for the kids.

And speaking of our headquarters…we love having visitors! If you’re in the area, why not come by for a tour of our LEED-CI Platinum office, or a beverage up on our roof deck? We hope to see you soon!
