We are pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the Chapman Construction/Design Sustainability Scholarship. Kyle Stroveglia and Dario Boyce, both Architecture majors at Wentworth Institute of Technology, were selected out of the sixty-plus students who applied for this scholarship. Applicants were ask to submit a 500 word essay on the meaning of sustainability, their view of current trends and the future of the sustainable construction and design industry.
Kyle, a freshman from Long Island New York witnessed the devastation from Hurricane Katrina while on vacation in New Orleans, and saw the effects Hurricane Sandy had on his home town. These two life changing events inspired him to pursue a degree in Architecture and someday plans to design housing that can withstand future environmental catastrophes.
Dario a sophomore from Barbados first found his interest in sustainability in a high school Environmental Science class. At Wentworth he continues to study green building and alternative energy technologies. He plans to contribute to future development of these technologies to make them more accessible to the public.
