Mayor Announces “Energy Smart Newton” Initiative at Chapman’s Headquarters


On Wednesday, February 29th, business owners, environmental professionals, and community leaders gathered at Chapman’s offices for a press conference held by Newton Mayor Setti Warren. The Mayor, along with Massachusetts Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Rick Sullivan, announced the city’s new “Energy-Smart Newton” initiative, which aims to reduce Newton’s energy consumption by 20% by the year 2020. The city is partnering with NSTAR, Serrafix, The Green Decade Coalition, and The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce to engage residents and businesses in energy reduction incentive programs. The press conference also highlighted Chapman’s 90% energy reduction resulting from our 2009 LEED-CI Platinum renovation.
