2020 Year in Review: Projects

In a year marked with great turbulence, successfully completing projects was no easy feat. We are proud of the way our resilient team adapted and persevered through 2020’s obstacles and embraced a new way of working. Our project management and administrative teams adjusted to remote life and strengthened their ability to collaborate virtually while our site supervisors showed up on site every day, enforced new health and safety protocols, and kept our projects moving forward. We are excited to share some highlights from the great work our team accomplished this year.

As offices emptied, we used the quiet time to complete some cool corporate spaces and tackle some major mechanical upgrades. Longtime client Nuance Communications finished the renovation of their customer experience center and X4 Pharmaceuticals moved to a new HQ in a historic Brighton building. In Hopkinton, we repositioned a building for an incoming life science company and completed roof and RTU replacements on two buildings for Sunlife in Wellesley.

Many of the colleges and universities we work with pressed pause on their summer projects as they prepared for a safe return to campus. We were fortunate to help with this effort by creating a clinical testing lab and symptomatic testing facility for Boston University. We also had the honor of completing a renovation for BU’s newly created Center for Antiracist Research.

A segment of work we rarely get to promote is the defense sector. For security purposes, photos are typically not allowed, and names and locations must remain confidential. However, our NH and MA teams were kept busy with this essential work during and after the shutdown. With 35 projects completed in the defense sector alone, we worked on SCIFs, secure labs, cleanrooms and ancillary space for several repeat clients.

Our New Hampshire team grew our healthcare practice with projects for Parkland Hospital. They also gave back to the community with another project for Building on Hope. This year, working alongside a mighty team of AEC professionals, we helped make improvements to the Nashua Police Athletic League’s Youth Safe Haven.

2020 wasn’t all work and no play, we also rounded up all the ways our team stayed connected and active in our 2020 Year in Review: People!
